Frequently asked questions
What is Bates numbering?
Bates numbering (or Bates stamping) applies a unique, sequential identifier to each page of a document. It is widely used in legal, medical and business settings to reference and track pages across a set of documents.
Can I zero-pad the numbers?
Yes. Choose how many digits you want and shorter numbers are padded with leading zeros — for example 6 digits turns page 1 into “000001”.
Where does the stamp go?
You pick the corner or edge — bottom-right is the legal convention, but bottom-centre, bottom-left and the three top positions are all available. Every page gets the stamp in the same spot.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The PDF is loaded, stamped and re-saved entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. It is never uploaded to a server.
