Where do the voices come from?
The voices are the text-to-speech voices already installed on your operating system and browser. The list varies by device — you can add more via your system’s language or accessibility settings.
Can I download the speech as an MP3 or audio file?
No. Browsers do not allow the built-in speech engine to be saved to an audio file, so this tool is for listening and previewing only. For a downloadable audio file you would need a dedicated recording or TTS-export tool.
Which browsers support this?
Text to speech uses the Web Speech Synthesis API, supported in current Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox. If your browser lacks it, the tool will show a message and the controls stay disabled.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. The text is handed straight to your device’s own speech engine and spoken locally. Nothing you type is uploaded or stored by us.
